Planetary Conflict Scene

Heads up guys!

We’ve been working real hard on the game the last few weeks. We’ve also had some ups and downs along the road, and i think our programmer (Sudarmin) had the worst of it…he’s been having trouble sleeping or insomnia caused by too much coding, perhaps too much thinking can cause brain damage (hopefully that’s not the case). He said that even when he’s tired or sleepy, he can’t fall asleep because his brain is still in overdrive…or something like that. So we sent him home (with his computer) so that he can rest…(and work from home…errr)…

Anyways, here are some of the stuff that we’ve been working on:

Intro Movies & Cutscenes
We teamed up with another graphic design studio, Jotter Productions to bring you some of the greatest cutscenes you’ll ever see in a flash game! (as i’m typing this i’m *crossing my fingers*…oh please GOD let this be true!). I’ve added an intro movie to the alpha build, hopefully you’ll enjoy it! \(^.^)/

Squads
Yes! the squad feature has been implemented. Now you can recruit your friends into your squad and take command over their characters to help you complete your missions. You can invite your friends from Facebook, Twitter, Myspace, and Mochigames account to join in.

More Weapons, Clothes, and Items
Added a bunch of stuff into the game. You should try the grenade launcher…its awesooooomeeee!

Play as Guest
We figured that some of you are too lazy to login or create an account…no worries…we’ve made a Play as Guest feature where you can basically play the game without creating any account, yay! The only catch is, your progress will NOT be saved! So once you close the game, all of your hard work will be gone…*poof*…so there you have it, consider this feature as a trial run or test drive. If you like the game, just create an account or login using your existing accounts, it’s super fast and easy!

Well, i can’t tell you all of the changes that we’ve made because there are a lot of it…you should probably jump in and try it yourself. Please let us know what you think!

Now they can walk and shoot back!

We have updated the battle mode with explosions, grenades, targeting, AI controlled enemy, etc. Now you can use grenade launchers or shoot with rifles…it’s still in the works though, we didnt have time to render the weapon models…so for now, all weapons will look exactly the same ;b

Things You Need to Know

  • YOU MUST LOGIN TO BE ABLE TO PLAY! Please log in using your Facebook, Twitter, Myspace or Mochigames account
  • Press ‘I’ to OPEN INVENTORY SCREEN, Press it again to close it
  • Drag and Drop items to equip
  • There are two place you can visit, ITEM STORE and TAVERN
  • click on the SHOPKEEPER to BUY/SELL items
  • click on the BARTENDER to TAKE MISSIONS

Known BUGS / Features need to be implemented

  • Visual indicator for objects that can be interacted (NPC, Doors, etc)
  • Player / NPC / Enemies stuck on objects, need to fix path finding
  • Glitches when using shadow on High quality
  • Can walk when AP is 0 during battle by clicking continuously
  • Squad management features not yet implemented
  • and many more…

Updates Galore!!!

Hiya folks! I am very sorry for the lack of updates…

I’ve just returned from Seattle last week. To be speaking at Casual Connect Seattle 2010 was really an honor! It was a great experience, I get to share and learn a lot of cool stuff from experienced developers, and also meet and hangout with a lot of cool people!

I also got the chance to meet with Andy Moore, the creator of Steambirds! However, I didn’t get to take a picture with him…darn it!

Now about Planetary Conflict
I guess we have to push back the open beta for Planetary Conflict, I was a bit busy with preparing visa, tickets, and materials for my talk for Casual Connect Seattle 2010 that made a few task to fall behind schedule (sorry)…and other than that we’ve also stumbled upon some technical obstacles. Even so, the project is still going strong and the rest of the team have been very busy working on it, day and night…without sleep nor food, I even bought special ankle chains to tie them to their desks BWAHAHAHA *maniac laugh* (I was just joking btw…no developer were hurt during our game development process, but we are working really2 hard)

I’m very sorry that I couldn’t fulfill my promise for Planetary Conflict’s open beta in July, for that…I’ll be spending a month in “THE BOX of SHAME!” as punishment…but then again, since we need everybody to work on the game, maybe not (yippie!)

Keep in mind that this is only the earliest Alpha version, a lot of stuff are still being worked on so you can expect to see a lot of bugs. We are also still trying to get as many artwork completed and implemented as possible…and yes the shopkeeper is a COWBOY, he’s there as a placeholder until we can find a cute chibi girl to replace him. Let me know what you think about the feel of the game from this alpha version, your feedback is very valuable!

And one more thing, we’ve been interviewed by PC GAMER magazine Indonesia and we’ll be featured in an article…I’ll talk about it more on another post.

Announcing new game : Planetary Conflict

This is our latest game project…

Earth is gone…no one remembers how it got destroyed…pollution, global warming, famine, and war over control of its dwindling resources had brought the planet to its breaking point…Humanity’s last attempt for survival was to evacuate the dying planet. Now humans have become nomads without a place to call home.

Planetary Conflict will be a ‘Turn-based Action Squad-based MMO’ (pheww that’s a mouthful) built using Flash platform. The game will take place a few centuries after the destruction of Earth. You’ll take the role of one of the last humans in the galaxy fighting for the survival of your kind. You’ll lead a band of human survivors fighting alien threats, space pirates, and travel to the depths of the galaxy where a dark secret awaits you.

Features Include:
- Isometric view
- Custom character creation
- Customizable Ship & HQ
- Squad management
- Level and Skill progression
- Asynchronous MMO gameplay
- Social based gameplay
- Realtime PvP Multiplayer Arena

After each battle you and your team will earn experience points which you can use to sharpen your skills and abilities. In your quest you’ll also encounter other NPC characters, either human or alien, that will unveil the game’s story. You can also recruit your friends (either from facebook, twitter, myspace) to join your ranks and help you in battle. The game will also have a realtime PvP battle arena, where you can fight together or against your friends and show them who’s boss!

This project will be our first multiplayer game and is our most ambitious project so-far. Also, this project is funded through Mochi Developer Fund. Hopefully the game will enter open-beta by mid-end July 2010…so stay tuned!

I’ll be posting more in-depth and specific information (and maybe some playable demo and screenshots) over the course of the next week as we progress through the development process.
