Updates Galore!!!

Posted on August 5th, 2010 by toge.kris in Blog

Hiya folks! I am very sorry for the lack of updates…

I’ve just returned from Seattle last week. To be speaking at Casual Connect Seattle 2010 was really an honor! It was a great experience, I get to share and learn a lot of cool stuff from experienced developers, and also meet and hangout with a lot of cool people!

Me with Boomzapians & Hozay
Mr. Shen from Mochimedia
Mr. Shen from Mochimedia!
Jameson & Ada from Mochimedia
Jameson and Ada Chen from Mochimedia

I also got the chance to meet with Andy Moore, the creator of Steambirds! However, I didn’t get to take a picture with him…darn it!

Now about Planetary Conflict
I guess we have to push back the open beta for Planetary Conflict, I was a bit busy with preparing visa, tickets, and materials for my talk for Casual Connect Seattle 2010 that made a few task to fall behind schedule (sorry)…and other than that we’ve also stumbled upon some technical obstacles. Even so, the project is still going strong and the rest of the team have been very busy working on it, day and night…without sleep nor food, I even bought special ankle chains to tie them to their desks BWAHAHAHA *maniac laugh* (I was just joking btw…no developer were hurt during our game development process, but we are working really2 hard)

I’m very sorry that I couldn’t fulfill my promise for Planetary Conflict’s open beta in July, for that…I’ll be spending a month in “THE BOX of SHAME!” as punishment…but then again, since we need everybody to work on the game, maybe not (yippie!)

No worries, I do have something to show to you! Here’s an early look into the game that we’ve been working on.

Keep in mind that this is only the earliest Alpha version, a lot of stuff are still being worked on so you can expect to see a lot of bugs. We are also still trying to get as many artwork completed and implemented as possible…and yes the shopkeeper is a COWBOY, he’s there as a placeholder until we can find a cute chibi girl to replace him. Let me know what you think about the feel of the game from this alpha version, your feedback is very valuable!

And one more thing, we’ve been interviewed by PC GAMER magazine Indonesia and we’ll be featured in an article…I’ll talk about it more on another post.

This is it for now…Kris over and out!

at minimum you should make different teams different colors. you should give some people different looks. and using your gun should consume ap.

Hum ok

To begin with, minor display bug: When the character is in a door frame, the outer part (looks like floor tiles stuck around it) are not properly grafted to the wall, and the guy can be see through them, but is still blocked by them.

Also, sometimes, when I’m in a job, some characters are spawned inside wall corners, but the see through function doesn’t reveal them until they start moving. I gues this is due to the turn system, but it would be good for the strategic side of the game.

Other than that, I guess the XP retaining is not set yet, as is the buy and sell functions in the shop.

But I’m looking forward for a next version ^^

This sort of reminds me of modern tactics.

I liked the alpha version of the Planetary Conflict, and I’m waiting for the Beta version

I think this is the first time I’ve been kinda shocked by togeproductions, and not in exactly a good way. I’m just crossing my fingers that the beta will be quite better…

P.S. for shooting, the bullet doesn’t lob itself in the air and then strike itself down on the other opponent’s head, it goes straight forward. are we throwing rocks?

this alpha is mostly showing our tech test, such as dynamic shadows and trajectory (for grenades and launchers and stuff). there are a lot of stuff still in the works…so, rest assured the next alpha version will get better. Thanks for giving ur thoughts

it only takes about 1 piece of code to make it so that shooting people reduces your AP

visually looks great, i just walked around a bit, my main concern is the camera system right now. I don’t like how it doesn’t really follow the character, and then to move the camera you use the same button, you just hold it down. It’s kind of bothersome.
